    Description We are currently seeking a Beginner Level Software Engineer for one of our clients in Seattle, WA. This is a year long project The Supply Chain Operational Planning and Execution (SCOPE) team builds planning and other systems that support the North American Supply Chain. We solve difficult software and optimization problems involving forecasting and visibility/visualization on a large scale. We support the systems we create and work closely with business people to resolve operational issues. You*ll get experience using state of the art coding, test driven and behavior driven design practices as well as Scrum/Agile processes. Add to that the opportunity to work directly with business users to build systems that will save millions of dollars per year. Your experience here could help build your career for years to come. Basic Qualifications: * Demonstrate competency in computer science basics including data structures, sorting/searching algorithms, order analysis * Bachelor*s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline (e.g., CS, ECE, Math) or 2+ years Amazon experience. * Experience creating server side and browser delivered user interface solutions or both. * Willingness to take part in a round robin *operational support* rotation and a round robin 24 hr pager rotation is required (SCOPE has a light *middle of the night* load, but occasional issues do arise). Preferred: * Ability to effectively communicate in technical and non-technical terms to various audiences ranging from engineers to non-technical employees. * A willingness to learn deep domain knowledge in the area of supply chain systems and planning. * Experience with CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Ruby On Rails. * Familiarity with SQL. Experience with data analysis/mining using large relational databases (tables >= 10^9 rows) a plus. * Experience with designing, building and deploying scalable; highly available systems a plus. * Experience with modern tools and environments (e.g., XML, web services, version control systems, bug/issue tracking tools) * Experience with Scrum, XP or other agile methodologies. * A background with mathematical modeling or optimization.
