If you are in mid-management level, then Wipro is not the place to be. The promotion paths are not defined and pay rises are few and after long gaps. The insurance is also poor and your performance is not taken into account when salary rise is considered. The hectic workload can take a toll on your family life. You have to be on call schedule and even if put in extra hours, there is no guarantee that it will be taken into account while your performance is being appraised. Those in power except you butter them up and if you don’t play the office politics be ready to be in the side lines.

I left my job in Wipro as I did not feel that the company appreciates the hard work of the company in proper manner. They don’t take the perspective of the employees into account and even after years in the job, you are not sure where you are heading. I also noticed a bias towards Indian employees when it comes to promotion and good job posting.

Wipro is for those who want job security and willing to work with a salary that is just enough. The company has a global presence and some great clients but your chance of landing a prestigious project will much depend on where you are posted. If you are not from IT part of the company, forget about being in touch with management as they are the blue-eyed boys of the company. There is no clear definition on what you are supposed to do in the company and I have seen many of colleagues change course after negotiation with the HR department. As I wanted to be in a job where I knew what I am supposed to do in the coming years and where I am going, I left the company.

The training programs in Wipro is one of the reasons why I joined the company. They are best in the industry and the size of the company means I get to work in various environment and use the latest technology. To go ahead in this company, you have to work hard and show self-devotion. Be ready to put in nearly 40 hrs per week, though the company’s expectation that I will be there 24/7 sometimes gets on my nerves.

Wipro is the perfect company to start your career in. The interviews of the company are pretty easy and you can easily get in. New recruits are guided well and they have a chance to learn about various aspects of the job as you are given various responsibilities. But it also means that you may be in a job for which you don’t have a skill set; but if you see it as a challenge you can learn well from it. The job hours are flexible and you will have some of the best talents in the industry as your colleague. The management is a bit inflexible; but on the upside they are not strict with policies that don’t do any good.

I have been working with Wipro for almost 10 years now and happy with my job. I am proud to be a part of this global company. It has given me something that is so important in today’s job world---job security. The salary is at par with industry standard. Some people complain about relocation policy of the company but I have looked forward to a new posting as it means learning about new culture and meeting some great co-workers.

Wipro is one of the better Indian companies other than Infosys and TCS. They seem to know their stuff, have good Managers, are more professional- than some Indian firms I've dealt with.
