I had a pretty good experience with Bayside Solutions. I was referred to them by a friend. I had good experience as a software engineer but was new to the Bay area. They have some pretty good clients, arranged for interviews in a timely fashion, and kept me in the loop through the process. The Bayside recruiter stayed in touch to see if I was doing OK. I left after I found a full-time job. I'd recommend Bayside Solutions as a good way to get started on a contract gig in the Bay area while you explore full-time options. Employment agencies are not similar and should not be compared to Google or Apple. They are not as profitable and therefore have less benefits, etc. than you can get elsewhere.
